I had no gel pens at work today! So I had to fall back on my tried and true normal ink pen. (just a Pilot pen, nothing fancy!). Today felt like a circular day, so the doodles rolled out in that manner. I always enjoy these and once upon a time worked them out into an illustration series digitally. I’ll dredge up the files as I believe I showed them at last year’s faculty exhibit.
Finally I was able to play around with the gel pens some more. I wanted to try it on the black paper (since that was the pen type I bought) and boy! I am really happy with the effect! For the test, I stuck to a simple pattern, just to see how it worked on the paper, and it was a lot of fun. Hooray Sakura pens! 🙂
Here’s my top 5 list of things that I found delicious (visually, aesthetically or….actually delicious) this week on the interwebs 🙂
1 :: Longwood Gardens
Maybe I can pretend it’s Spring?
I’ve been lusting to go to this place ever since I heard about it. For one reason or another I have yet to make the trek there to see their gardens. I have had some friends go there and they all have loved it. It seems magical. Maybe this year!
Mmmm books. And products about books. Books, books, books.
I love books. I’m obsessed by books. So when a friend introduced me to Book Riot’s online shop, it took the most monumental restraint to not buy EVERYTHING. If you’re a fan of books and book culture, you will love this site too!
I am positively obsessssssed with this blog!!! I found it on pbs on my iTV (or whatever those things are called…let’s call it iTV for lack of actually knowing its proper name) and binge watched every cooking video. These videos are so beautiful! Lovely camera and effects (transitions, music, etc) and just wonderful production/quality in general. And to top it off? The food looks amazing! The blog is run by Aube and she shows not only how to cook her recipes, but also shows where the food comes from (farm to plate style…awesome!) My new goal, upon seeing this on pbs and then reading through her entire blog, is to start shifting my cooking style to be more in alignment with this. Is it too late to make a New Year’s Resolution? If it’s not too late, I proclaim it to be my new resolution for the year! 🙂
Wow! I saw this article posted by a friend and fell in love with this artist’s style. What fantastic pieces! Be sure to scroll through all of her work and visit the artist’s website (found here: http://www.ellenjewettsculpture.com).
